Would your student like to take an additional elective instead of keyboarding next year?
This semester, Gorzycki will offer students an opportunity to take the Keyboarding Proficiency Test to meet their keyboarding requirement. Any student who has not taken keyboarding, a substitute class (Video Game Design or Info Tech Careers), or passed the keyboarding test before the end of their 7th grade year MUST take the keyboarding class their 8th grade year.
For more information on the test including a study guide and the registration form, please go to http://keyboarding.gmstigers.org.
The proficiency test has two parts that take place over two days:
Part I—Speed and Accuracy and
Part II—MS Office and Internet Search Proficiency
Students must pass Part I by typing a minimum of 25 words per minute in order to take Part II. 25wpm is correct - last year it was 35wpm, but the minimum was dropped this year.
Our only test this year is scheduled for Weds Jan 21st (Part 1 - Typing) and Thurs Jan 22nd (Part 2 - MS Office) with make up days scheduled Weds Jan 28th (Part 1 - Typing) and Thursday Jan 29th (Part 2 - MS Office). The test is offered during our 6th period Excel class.
You MUST register at http://keyboarding.gmstigers.org to take the test. For questions that aren't answered on the website, you may email Ms. Finkler at firstname.lastname@example.org or call her at (512) 841-8650.
