Good Afternoon Gorzycki Tigers
Here are your announcements for today:

Do you want to see if the 8th grade A volleyball team can ace the teachers? Do you want to see if the 8th grade A basketball team can run the teachers out of the gym? Then buy your tickets for the student-faculty volleyball and basketball games happening Friday, May 10th during 7th and 8th periods. Each game costs $2, and you can purchase tickets during your PE, athletics, and dance class. If you do not have a PE class, you can purchase tickets 6th period in the gym through today Questions, see one of the PE teachers.

The 2019 Tiger Talent Show will be on Friday, May 17 after STAAR is over. 6th graders will go during 7th period, & 7th & 8th graders will go during 8th period that day. Students must purchase tickets to be allowed to go. $2.00 admission can be purchased at aisd.schoolcashonline.com OR by giving your $2.00 in an envelope with your full name & grade level on it to Mr. Heckler in the choir room. Tuesday, May 14 will be the last day to purchase admission. For more information about performers for the talent show, please take a look at the bright yellow flyers located around GMS.

Tomorrow is the LAST Writing Club of the year! Come celebrate with us in room 706 from 3:45-4:45PM. Bring a snack to share or a piece of writing to share or just a smile to share. All are welcome.

Congratulations to the following winners of the Poetry Society of Texas Student Awards: Samantha L. and Julia C. won HONORABLE MENTION for the Naomi Stroud Simmons Memorial Award and Eddie P. won 2nd PLACE OVERALL for the Pat and Don Stodghill Award Please give a big congrats to these poets who were competing against over 350 students across Texas.

Hey Tigers! This week we have another meeting of Gorzycki's favorite CLUBE, that's right, the Rubik's Clube! We'll meet after school on Thursday in Mrs. Christensen's room, 608. We still have two by two's for students to borrow, but bring any other Rubik's Cubes you have for solving, racing, and fun. Any student is welcome. If you haven't already, please go to Mrs. Christensen's website to fill out the google form before attending. See you Thursday Rubiks Clubers!

Attention all incoming 7th and 8th graders interested in distance running. Coach Sindt is excited to announce that Gorzycki will have its first ever cross country team starting this fall. If you are a competitive endurance runner, or want to get in shape for other sports, or just want to have a great time meeting new friends, then cross country would be perfect for you. Cross country is open to all boys and girls in 6th, 7th, and 8th grade. If you are interested in running next fall there will be an informational meeting in Coach Sindt's room 808 next Tuesday, May 7th, after school. Congratulations to the 7th grade girls track team for winning the Southwest Zone Championship. The team scored 172 points. Top finishers for the team were - 4x100 Meter Relay - 1st place with Espy W., Lauren H., Laila A., and Makayla Z. 800 meter run - Olivia C. 1st place, Sheridan W. 3rd place. 100 Hurdles - Liv G. 1st place and Hailey H. 2nd place. 100 meter dash - Laila A. 2nd place. 4x200 meter relay - 2nd place with Julia M., Lauren H., Hailey H., and Miya K. 400 meter dash - Micah W. 1st place and Sophie S. 2nd place. 300 meter hurdles - Maykayla Z - 1st place. 200 meter dash - Julia M. 1st place, Miya K. 3rd place. Mile Run - Parker S. 1st place, Finley S. 3rd place. The 4x400 meter relay - 1st place with Miya K., Olivia C., Micah W., and Makayla Z. The team worked really hard and had an amazing season. Congrats Ladies!

Congratulations to the 7th grade Boys Track team for winning the Zone Championship last night. First place finishers were: Griffin C in the 100, Diego S in the 800, Miles S in the 300 hurdles and Wonder in the 110 hurdles. Congratulations to all team members on a great season!

Congratulations to the 8th Grade Boys Track Team on winning the Southwest Zone Championship. District Champs are as follows: 800 Meter Run - Evan M. 110 Meter Hurdles - Weston B. 4x200 Meter Relay - Evan M, Mason C, Dower P, and Jacob K 300 H - Jackson H 1600 Meter Run - Rio P 4x400 Meter Relay - New District Record 3 minutes and 41.08 seconds Jacob K, Evan M, Jackson H, and Nic L Thank you for your hard work and dedication to being CHAMPIONS!!! The 2019 Tiger Talent Show audition results will be posted outside the choir room door today after school for GMS students who auditioned yesterday.

Writing Club only has THREE more meetings this year! Don't miss them! Come to writing club today from 3:45-4:45PM in room 706 to talk about world building and map making and planning our end of year party!

Attention UIL Science - Please report to Room 716 at least once this week. The competition is this Saturday.

Attention all incoming 7th and 8th grade girls. Are you interesting in playing soccer for Gorzycki next year? If so, girls soccer camp would be a great way to meet the coaches, improve your skills, make new friends, and have a great time. Camp will be June 10th-June 13th from 7:30-11:00.
