Hello World courses are modeled after college and graduate-level computer science and engineering programs and focus on applied mathematics, simulation and modeling as a means to solving complex problems and are taught by engineers at top technology companies, including Apple, Amazon, and Facebook. Our Gorzycki Middle School Fall 2017 program will cover two cutting-edge engineering subjects (all students will get both subjects): 1) Game Engineering and 2) Full Stack Web Development. Coursework covers key programming languages including front-end coding (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, JQuery), back-end sever programming (PHP), and programming within the Unity platform in C#.

All weekly sessions will take place at Gorzycki Middle School with a 7:1 instructor to student ratio and students will be grouped by experience level (e.g. they have programming experience) and grade level. Students who took Hello World in the fall or attended a summer program in these subjects will be placed in more advanced groups.

Our program is intended for students with an interest in design, creative problem solving and computer science. Students learn directly from our dream team of industry leaders, including software engineers, artificial intelligence architects, and data scientists to prototype and test solutions to real world challenges. We are open to all levels and will differentiate based on previous exposure to engineering concepts, with the ultimate aim of laying the foundation for successful careers in tomorrow’s technology-driven world and building skills and confidence in STEM subjects.

We strongly encourage girls to join the program - early exposure to computer science and engineering concepts improves confidence in the field and significantly increases students' likelihood of majoring in these subjects in college!
