Letter to parents and students.
Hello to all my GMS students and families,
I hope you are all well.
Today is the first day after spring break, and looks very different than any of us expected. I am picturing the day in my mind: Y’all walk back into the classroom with tired faces, as everyone tries to get back into the routine. Today is different, but in some ways it is the same. Tired faces? Check. Getting back into a routine? Check.
This is not anyone’s first choice but we are going to figure it out together.
We can do this as long as we commit to two things:
- Be flexible.
- Be willing to work.
That’s it! Do y’all think you can get on board with that plan too? GOOD!
Distance learning will be a challenge for everyone, but I will work with the 6th grade math team to do the best by you. Do y’all remember our inspiration page? At the very beginning of our math spirals? That is what I am thinking about today. From day one we decided that we can do this together and that challenges are good. That’s what I am going with during this time. Those ideas, and a big love for YOU (and math).
The website https://www.austinisd.org/coronavirus provides supplementary instructional resources that students can use while our digital curriculum is being developed. This website also includes up to date district news and information about meals that are being provided at different locations throughout the city.
As far as correcting the Equations Quiz we took on Wednesday, March 11th; you will have the opportunity to learn from your mistakes by doing corrections when we are all back on campus. You will also have the opportunity to make up missing work before any grade is posted. For now, know that your grade in math is not final.
The best way to reach me during this time is email. I will respond to emails as soon as I can. My "office hours" are going to be from 9-12. This is when I will respond to you the fastest and we could even face conference if you need it.
