IF YOU ARE ELIGIBLE (ON THE LIST) AND INTERESTED IN APPLYING FOR MEMBERSHIP FOR THE
2020-21 GMS CHAPTER, YOU WILL NEED TO JOIN THE NJHS APPLICATION GOOGLE CLASSROOM PAGE USING 
ONLY YOUR AISD EMAIL ACCOUNT.
 
ONLY ELIGIBLE STUDENTS WHICH ARE ON THE LIST MAY APPLY.

Please note:  Submitting an application does not guarantee acceptance.  Letters of acceptance/denial will be sent out Mid-April via school email. 

APPLICATION DIRECTIONS FOUND ON GOOGLE CLASSROOM

 

STEP 1: COMPLETE THE APPLICATION

 

The next step is the application process, which you can complete on the google doc attached to this post. You MUST read and follow the application directions.  Please note: eligibility DOES NOT guarantee acceptance, nor does simply filling out the application. You must also earn enough points (based on your teacher recommendations) in order to be invited to join.

 

Be sure to proofread/edit your application before submitting, as changes may not be made afterward.

 

STEP 2: TEACHER RECOMMENDATIONS

 

The final step will be to ask each of your teachers (all 8) to complete a recommendation form. Teachers will be doing this online, but you have to make a personal request for them to do so.

 

YOU MUST WRITE A LETTER TO EACH OF YOUR TEACHERS REQUESTING THIS RECOMMENDATION. Your letter must include a salutation, one complete paragraph explaining why you want to be a member of NJHS and one statement requesting a recommendation from that teacher. Make sure to include your first and last name and class period in your closing.

 

Each letter should be sealed in an envelope and addressed to the receiving teacher. Your first and last name and class period should be on the front of the envelope under the teacher's name.

 

Please note: teachers will be rating you in the areas of LEADERSHIP, SERVICE, CHARACTER, AND CITIZENSHIP. You MUST earn 90% of the teacher recommendation points for your application to be processed.

 

You MUST request a recommendation from ALL of your current teachers. If you choose not to complete this aspect of the application, a score of zero will be input for the missing recommendations.

 

Remember, your grades qualify you to APPLY; your application AND teacher recommendations earn you an invitation to JOIN. Recommendations are based on the way you represent yourself in the classroom. These recommendations can be the deciding factor for your acceptance.

 

STEP 3: NOTIFICATION OF ACCEPTANCE/DENIAL

 

Notification of acceptance/denial will be sent to your school email by the end of April. Announcements will also be made when notifications have been sent.
