The mission of the PAL program in middle school is to prepare and enable students to use their leadership, academic knowledge, and critical thinking skills to address school-based needs. The primary role of the PAL in middle school is to mentor sixth grade students, new students, and students in campus-specific high-needs programs. PALS also serve as role models in their classes and are heavily involved in community service projects both within the school and out in their community. Examples of services projects include: Back-to-School Night, Coats for Kids, and Tiger Day.
The PAL program is open to any incoming 8th grade student. Seventh graders may apply in the spring semester. Interested students should listen for an announcement or see Ms. Sindt in Room 804.

Coats for Kids is a coat drive that helps children in need get the warmth they require during the winter time. The Junior League of Austin organizes the drive, and each year, they distribute more than 35,000 coats to children in central Texas.

Simply donating an old jacket can change a child’s life. We all have an old coat that we’ve outgrown, so please join us in donating them to the kids who need them most. Donation boxes will be located in the Commons and outside the Library.

If you don’t have a coat, you can still help! Donate cash online! Anything helps, but every donation of $15 will allow the Junior League to purchase one new coat! CLICK HERE TO DONATE! Please note that the school cannot accept cash donations. You must donate online, but please write-in "Gorzycki" in the box asking where you would like your donation directed so we can receive acknowledgement!

We will be collecting coats from Monday, November 13 until Wednesday, November 29.
