Fifth Graders

Welcome to Beginning Band!
The Gorzycki Middle School Band program is dedicated to helping each student achieve success. Our band program offers opportunities that are not available in any other course. When joining band, every student will be instructed by an expert on their primary instrument. We are very fortunate to have one of the newest facilities in Austin ISD, which allows for students to have more one on one instruction. Through the study of instrumental music, students improve their higher level listening and thinking skills, as well as problem solving techniques. According to studies, learning a musical instrument will help to develop higher mental skills more than any other form of activity.
The Make-Up Instrument Selection Day will be Tuesday, March 26th from
in the Gorzycki MS Band Hall!
Please email Mr. Tieh at nicholas.tieh@austinisd.org, if you selected band as your 6th grade elective and need to select an instrument.
What to expect on instrument tryout day?
Step 1: Just bring yourself and follow the signs at the front of the school! We will provide all of the equipment for you to use. No musical experience is needed!
Step 2: Try out the instruments. Everyone MUST try out on a Basic Instrument (Flute, Clarinet, Trumpet, Trombone).
Step 3: You have a choice to also try out the color Instruments (French Horn, Tuba, Euphonium, Oboe, Bassoon, Saxophone, Percussion). This step is optional, if you would like to play a color instrument.
