J O'Leary » Welcome!

WELCOME to the 2019-20 school year! I love this time of year!    My teaching schedule has changed a bit this year, as I will be focusing primarily on 6th grade, which I am extremely excited about! For my resource math class, the first week of school, I will not be focusing on math, as I will be getting to know them and working on transitioning them to be ready to dive in to math starting Monday, 8/26/18.
This will be my 11th year with Gorzycki;  2 years as a Teacher Assistant while working toward my teaching certification, and  9 years as a Math resource teacher and Inclusion teacher!  Prior to teaching, I managed vocational workshops that provided work opportunities to individuals that had intellectual disabilities. I also had an opportunity to stay home with my daughters before they headed off to elementary school!
I have been married for 24 years, and my husband and I have two daughters, that both went to Gorzycki.  My oldest is starting her senior year at University of Massachusetts (UMASS) in Amherst, MA, and my youngest is a sophomore at Bowie High School.  I was born and raised in Alpine, TX, but I have lived in Austin since 1990.  I love outdoors: camping, gardening, swimming, running (don't do as much running as I use to though).  I absolutely love firing up the smoker!  I enjoy smoking most meats, but my favorite is smoking baby back ribs!
I love teaching and I very excited about this school year!!
