My name is Nicholas Tieh. I am a native of Sugar Land, Texas where my musical inspiration began under my piano teacher, Cynthia Prince, at the age of 6. In 2015, I graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelors of Music degree from the University of Houston, where I studied with Dan Gelok, David Bertman, Marion West and John Benzer.
During my undergraduate studies, I was the principal saxophonist of the University of Houston Wind Ensemble and the baritone saxophonist of the national award winning Ikiryo Saxophone Quartet. The Ikiryo Saxophone Quartet had the honor to perform and compete in multiple chamber music competitions across the United States. In 2014, the Ikiryo Saxophone Quartet was invited to be featured in the Treetops Chamber Music Society concert season after being selected as the unanimous winner of the 2014 International J.C. Arriaga National Chamber Music Competition.
In 2015, I was an assistant band director at Clear Falls High School in Clear Creek ISD where I taught for one year. This will be my third year teaching at Gorzycki Middle School. I am humbled to be working with a wonderful community and talented students. I am looking forward to a wonderful school year!
